Montessori School – These Schools Are Best For Young Children and Also For Their Development

The history of the Montessori education system goes back almost a 100 years to 1912 when the first such school was set up by Alexander Graham Bell and his wife Mabel. The famous American inventor Thomas Edison also set up many other such institutions across the US. But they have gotten so popular now that you can find more than 4,000 private and hundreds of public Montessori schools only in the US – and all over the world, their number crosses the 40,000 mark. Interestingly enough, recent studies made by researchers Dr. Lillard and Dr. Nicole Else-Quest have proved that those who go to a Montessori children’s school perform better in reading and in math, and they can also engage themselves in more positive interactions on the playground. They are also of the opinion that those who attend a Montessori school show more concern and integrity and are also fair as compared to others. The approach of the school is to first understand the progress of the child and then design materials and offer one-to-one lessons so that the child can easily understand and develop socially, intellectually and physically. The child’s mental development is always the priority and so, lessons are offered so that he/she can identify the world all around, better communication, cultural coordination, numerical structures and others. With the Montessori training, a child will be able to get a sense of order, the importance of concentration on a subject, the value of independence, self-confidence, courtesy and grace as well as the use of finer motor skills. The Montessori children’s school helps the child name what he/she sees, hears, smells and touches and this allows the young person to understand the world better. As a matter of fact, sensory feelings and related activities help the child to imbibe the information his/her environment provides. And this is definitely a more effective way of becoming familiar with the world all around. There are some simple tasks such as unbuttoning and buttoning the uniform that can drastically improve the motor skills and concentration of the child. Some very practical tools are used to impart some basic math training so that the child is able to identify the numerical and count too. First the child learns addition and subtraction and only after this is multiplication and division training imparted. A good Montessori children’s school will try to educate the child in such a way that he/she feels a part of the community and wants to come to the help of the weaker and becomes a responsible citizen.
